Is Technology Making Item Upgrade Better Or Worse
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades can give you an increase in specific statistics. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of armor or weapons. However, the item used to upgrade will be consumed forever and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.
You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.
The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current level of the Best item upgrader level upgrade (Lovewiki.faith) being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for different currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor using an button, which displays an item's preview at the next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.
The cost of upgrading varies based on the item slot, and the current level of the item. For instance, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree, it can be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currency types.
Many locations offer item upgraders, including the main Island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases with the number of items being upgraded. It can also be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead the NPCs that can be used to upgrade are acquired via various methods which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3, a number of new features were added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a specific level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading additional items to the same level will be less expensive, even if they belong to another set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain achievement milestones.
Crests
Players have a variety of options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.
The first thing to be aware of is that crests can only be used on gear of a specific rank, and each rank has its own requirements for upgrading. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, based on the type or equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through working through content that is of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons of all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses to obtain endgame gear. The crests can later be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.
The new currency system isn't difficult to use, however it brings some changes to the upgrade process. For instance, when an item reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all of their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
Another notable change is that crests have one use, so it's important to use them properly. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the Best item upgrade gear you can locate and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially relevant for items like trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The discount on the account will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
