Is Technology Making Item Upgrade Better Or Worse
WoW Upgrades - The item level upgrade Upgrader
Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.
The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as important for the latter due to the requirement to roll an exact version.
Recycle Points
The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.
You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader every few weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.
The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current level of the equipment being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than buying new gear from other sources. For instance upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from another player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are useful items that can be used to level up weapons and tools, armor and other accessories. Players can purchase them from item upgraders NPCs for a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor with a button, which will display an image of the item at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the item slot and the current level of the item upgrader kit, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers for instance. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currencies.
Many locations offer item upgraders, including the main Island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and the chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases with the number of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.
Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no item level upgrade upgrader available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades are acquired via several methods, which is both an improvement and a drawback.
In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a certain level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading further items to the same level will be less expensive, even in the event that they belong to an entirely different set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
Players have several choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.
The first thing to be aware of is that crests are only able to be used to purchase gear of a specific rank, and that each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade can require up to 20 crests, depending on the type of equipment being upgraded.
Players can obtain crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons of all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons to obtain endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.
The new currency system isn't complicated to use, but it does bring some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, once an item is at the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to get their equipment to the highest ilvl possible for all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.
Another significant change is that crests have one usage, so it's important to use them properly. It is Best item upgrader to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the highest-quality gear you can find and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to items like trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The discount on the account will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
