Now That You ve Purchased Item Upgrade ... Now What
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give you an increase in specific statistics. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. A random extra substat is also added to each upgrade.
The more modernized gear generally has a more value in trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variance (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as useful for those with higher variance because of the requirement to roll an exact version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the Item Level Upgrade will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.
You can upgrade items your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.
Upgrades can cost more based on the item level, however they'll always be cheaper than buying new gear. For instance upgrading a Benthic chest piece to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for various currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be used on any weapon or tool using a button, which will show an image of the item when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.
The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item upgrader mod and the current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than bracers or gloves, for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item upgrader mod is upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.
Many locations have upgraders for their items in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrading increases as more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items in the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that can be used to upgrade are acquired via several methods which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3, the upgrade system has been altered a bit, with several new features added. After an upgrade has been completed to a certain item level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This is even if those items are from a different set of equipment.
The amount of Valorstones needed to upgrade is reduced and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is reduced as well, but is only available once certain milestones are achieved.
Crests
Players have a variety of choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.
The first thing to remember is that Crests are only available to equipment of a certain rank. Each rank has a different upgrade path. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade can require up to 20 crests, contingent on the type of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through working through content at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities, or by completing dungeons and raids in all difficulty levels to obtain lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with heroic difficulty to obtain endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader for the item upgrader mod like Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.
The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, however it will bring some changes to the process of upgrading. For example, once an item is at the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level for all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.
It's also essential to use crests with care, since they only have one use. For instance, it's best to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the best equipment available and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you plan to make. This is particularly relevant for items like trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The discount for the entire account is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
