Guide To Item Upgrades: The Intermediate Guide The Steps To Item Upgrades
Path of Exile Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a common and essential way to boost the performance of a variety of items in Path of Exile. They can be a fantastic source of additional damage and more AD or even more attachments.
Often times however upgraded Common and Magic gear is often surpassed by Rare-grade gear because of their high requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades can be applied to both armor and weapon items. They increase the effectiveness of the item that they're connected to. Upgrades to armor can be found in the world of games and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at bonfires. Additionally, they can be salvaged from items with upgrade components within them by with a professional or higher salvage kit.
The amount of damage an armored piece or weapon is able to absorb is dependent on the level of its upgrades. A piece of armor upgraded to maximum upgrade level will increase its damage absorption. It is important to note that this will increase the weight of the armor, therefore it should be heavier.
There are a variety of armor upgrades available in the game. Each has a different impact. Certain upgrades grant armor an extra amount of health points while others make it lighter and more powerful. The name of the armor upgrade will tell you the kind of upgrade the Best item upgrader can receive, as shown below.
Some upgrades also feature magic or a hybrid of technology and magic, which is indicated by an "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Some upgrades also require a charge to use, which are identified by the "Charges" entry in the table below. These charges are either updated daily or never expire based on the upgrade.
The cheapest method to upgrade armor is by using Iron Ore, which can be gathered by exploring the environment and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more costly, however, it is available at the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied on armor pieces that are of high-level. These upgrades can give players a significant boost in stats, and are definitely worth the cost.
The player must be aware that upgrading a piece to its maximum upgrade item level can boost its defense. However, it will also reduce the speed and agility of the piece. This is why it is generally not recommended to upgrade most armor pieces that are higher than +9 since the defensive boost gained is generally not worth the weight and power costs of the upgrades needed.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades give players to enhance certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can increase the accuracy of a rifle, or the damage caused by shotgun shells. Certain weapons come with special upgrades to improve their inherent capabilities. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and minimizes overheating of the weapon) and Kinetic Coils (increases projectile acceleration for more damage).
The majority of upgrades for weapons require the use of a whetblade, or one of the three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. They can be obtained by completing Side Quests or by killing a certain amount of monsters and bosses.
To upgrade the weapon, equipment set piece or Whetblade, you must visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a certain amount of bars. The more bars required to complete an upgrade, the higher the level. If you have multiple upgrade materials, the cost of upgrading will be lower.
In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and sets has changed. Prior to Chapter 2 Season 5, you could upgrade your weapon and equipment by paying a certain amount of Bars. You could continue doing this until you reached the max upgrade level of the equipment or weapon, following which upgrades would reset.
You can still do this, but the process is based on RNG and low on agency. It is better to purchase gear that has low levels of upgrade, but high base scores and stat distributions. These will be able to give you the highest tier benefits and blessings.
To improve their skills quicker, players usually prioritize upgrading their weapons. Additionally, players should consider upgrading the weapons they use with their squadmates to make them more powerful and effective. Shepard, for example should upgrade his M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more useful when used by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels can be used to boost the effectiveness of a skill or provide additional effects in armor and weapons. They can be created through an process known as jewelry crafting, in which you combine a gem and a number of specific chemicals at a table. The higher the quality of the gemstone, the better the secondary effect. These reagents can be found around the world from Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and sometimes by salvaging Legendary gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.
The Jeweler can enhance the quality of a gem in stages ranging from Crude up to Royal. The stat boosts can vary according to the tier that the jewel is at when it's inserted into weapons, jewelry, or other gear.
All kinds of jewels can be made at the Jeweler and Jeweler's Workshop, with the exception of the rare and legendary jewels that require you to be at a high enough level to qualify for these. In contrast to other upgrade components, jewels can be swapped out by a different identical jewel without damaging the original one. You can only replace the gem once within an item of equipment.
It is typical to use more jewelry to enhance the appearance of. The jewels also improve performance and create a harder surface than metal so that repeated friction caused by pivots does not damage them.
In addition to the above-mentioned upgrades players can also acquire glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. These glyphs offer a small boost in power and can be exchanged, however they're not guaranteed to appear as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded, as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold and Scattered Crystal. Glyphs are also removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as aegis and traits, aren't swappable and can only be retrieved using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage Tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets can give your character various small, but valuable, benefits. They can be obtained in the areas of starting as loot, personal story rewards, from vendors, and by completing road interactions. They can also be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.
The first trinket a player can unlock is the cloak. It grants a small but beneficial boost in movement speed and the ability to escape. The player can then collect necklaces, rings, and amulets, in a similar way as they did with weapons and armor. Every piece of equipment has an upgrade slot that is either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades provide smaller bonuses and can be put into any type of equipment, however, jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded and is only compatible with specific types of trinkets.
These trinkets also grant additional buffs and skills that remain active even when the character is not in combat. This lets the hero be more effective while inactive, and can also help to compensate for the absence of a strong team or the absence of any talent tree slots that normally are filled with the hero's ideal statistics.
In general trinket upgrades should be a priority BiS (Best item upgrade in Slot) items that you will not replace in the near future. Then, you should consider any items with desirable stats that aren't as significant as the iLevel of the item to be upgraded. This is particularly true if an item has multiple stats you wish to upgrade, as it's often more beneficial to upgrade one important stat than two sub-optimal ones.
At the beginning of the game players in the jungle are likely to upgrade their yellow trinket into a red one, while top and mid players usually choose either a pink or green ward (depending on the game's matchup). These choices will have an impact on a hero's ability to control the map.
In addition to the items listed above, players can find other trinkets throughout the game in the form of awards and trophies. These can be obtained by completing certain milestones in the story. For instance, completing the main quest of a chapter or beating an opponent. They can be viewed by selecting the relevant achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
