Upgrades give you boost in certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapons. The upgrade items cost depends on the item slot and current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers, for example. Crests

The new currency system isn't difficult to use, but it brings some changes to the upgrade process. For example, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another important change is that crests only have one purpose, so it's important to use them wisely. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the best gear you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly true for items such as rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The account-wide discount is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
