Are You Getting The Most The Use Of Your Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of the item by +3. A random substat is also added to each upgrade items.
The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the Item Upgrader kit is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the need to roll to get a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any type of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used for the upgrade items will be consumed forever and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in every major city, and can be visited at any time to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.
Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item upgrade will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from item upgrader NPCs in exchange for various currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. button, which will show a preview of the item at its next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.
The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item and the current level of the item as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers for instance. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree and is degraded, it can be sold and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currency types.
Item upgraders can be found at many locations including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades require a variety of means that are both an improvement and a drawback.
In Season 3, the upgrade system was altered a bit, with some new features added. Once the player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This applies even if the items are from another set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones needed to upgrade is reduced and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
When upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a variety of options. They can make use of Flightstones that are a common upgrade currency that is available to everyone players, or crests that are more specialized and consumed during upgrades on specific item levels. Crests are an important component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
First, you must be aware that the crests can only be purchased for gear that is of a particular rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, contingent on the type of gear being upgraded.
Players can obtain crests by completing content of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons of all difficulties for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons to obtain endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.
The new currency system isn't complicated to use, but it will bring some changes to the process of upgrading. For instance, when a piece of equipment reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.
It's also essential to use crests with care, since they are only used for one purpose. For instance, it's a good idea make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment available and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning to make. This is especially true for items like rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character which will only be able to avail the account-wide discount when all slots are filled with top-quality gear.
