10 Things Everyone Hates About Item Upgrading

From WikiHikmah

World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading

The item upgrade (visit link) lets players increase an item's gear rating up 700 points, and then add a bonus. Items can be upgraded by having them in inventory and heading to the kiln.

Certain items can be upp'd to increase their stats (like perfect made breakpoint armour that can be rolled to use in melee PvP) while others like weapons don't change much post upgrade, and therefore aren't worth upgrading.

Weapons

Upgrades to weapons can increase their numerical stats, like attack damage, crit chance and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons also come with an unchanging bonus that increases the damage they deal per second. Many weapons also have an unaffected bonus that is activated when three or more identical weapons are equipped in a group. This bonus could be more than the damage that a weapon upgrade can do on its own.

The cost of upgrading a weapon is based on the quality of the weapon and its current level. For example, an +2 weapon will require two standard Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a weapon will continue increase until it is required to use a higher tier of Smithing Stones, at which point it will reset to one.

The upgrade of weapons can also change their base stats. This is usually a positive thing, but it can also have negative consequences. For items that are only used in a certain build (Whistant's shield for FB Sorcs, for example) upgrading them can render them useless unless you get a lucky roll.

It is possible to upgrade armor items to improve their stats. For example, if you upgrade a helm or chest, it will boost the defense of its base, while a belt and gloves will improve their required strength and dexterity. Armor has a rerolling option for its Enhanced Defense percent. This means that it can sometimes roll down to a lower value.

The upgrade template of a weapon will show the new stats it will gain upon upgrading along with the relative value of those stats. This means that an upgrade from a sword that has 8 damage to an 11 attack-damage sword will result in a weapon receiving an attack damage of 3. The 3% does not mean that the weapon will hit 3 times less, as it is an absolute number.

A weapon can also be rerolled using the green button, which is accompanied by circling arrows in the menu for items. This will roll the item and alter its stats, but it won't reset the weapon's level nor tie it to the account status.

Armor

Making a few improvements to your armor can make a an enormous difference in your ability to endure. Certain sets can offer massive increases in resistance to curses, poison and fire as well as magic. This can make it easier to traverse difficult terrains. The more defense your character has the more value you can get out of each point of health therefore it is important to improve your armor as much as you can.

You can upgrade your armor by visiting any of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four Great Fairy Fountains in the game and to unlock each fountain, you must complete a side quest that involves the Stable Trotters. Once you've completed the primary side quest and completed the fountain that corresponds and then you can talk to any Great Fairy to open up the menu for upgrading your armor.

Each piece of armor can be upgraded up to three levels, and the amount of materials and Rupees required to complete each level will differ. In general, you'll be looking at anything from three to five Red Chuchu Jellies and ten Rupees for the first upgrade, and then anywhere from five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent one. The Champion Leathers, for example, can be upgraded to a 5 defense rating, which will allow you to stay ahead in frigid environments with a large number of enemies. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other side, can be upgraded to +20 defense so that you're able to survive a battle with your comrades.

Note that armor can't be upgraded in the same way as weapons, so you'll want to concentrate on enhancing it to increase physical power if you're a Warrior or Spell Power in the case of Mage. You should also save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor that you'll still be wearing at the end of the story, like the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you wear in the final boss fight the Monter Parts Merchant Mask.

By giving the jeweler 10 Twinkling Titanite in Gerudo Town, you can unlock perks for your armor. You'll generally want to save these upgrades to the weapon you'll be using to beat the game. For instance, the Longsword or Battleaxe. But it's useful to have some upgrades to the armor on your chest and helmets so that you can get around a few monsters.

Potions

Potions are liquids that, when consumed by the player, provide an immediate effect for a short period of time. There are five kinds of potions with different effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded to improve their effectiveness. You can also increase the effects of certain potions by adding redstone dust and glowstone dust.

Potion upgrades require a certain amount XP. This can be obtained by making them on a crafting table or by storing them in the Alchemist chest. However, the cost of upgrading will vary based on the type of potion you want to upgrade, as well as on the item's Mark Level and Rarity.

To upgrade a potion, right-click on it in your inventory and select the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This will open an GUI that allows you to select the potions that you would like to upgrade and the amount of experience they'll offer when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches up to five at a time and their XP will be added to the total XP you have.

Once a potion has been upgraded, it will not degrade until you use it again or break the bottle it's stored in. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will also allow you to rename it.

There were a few changes to potion mechanics in version 1.7.2. For example, splash potions now have an average duration of 0.08 seconds (this is not the equivalent of 22.5 seconds shown on the hover display of the item upgrade). The table for potion is now crafted from four Wood Planks, and two Glass. This allows it to be used by players in Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions are not compatible with cauldrons, unlike Java Edition. The same is true for using a potion in an empty cauldron. This will deplete the potion and refill the bottle.

In addition, there are simmering potions made using splash and dragon breath potions. Redstone can also be added to potions that are lingering to increase their effects. The table of potion ingredients is rearranged to look more like the Java Edition. New potions have also been added, for instance, the potion of leaping as well as decomposition.

Trinkets

A trinket can be an ornament that is small and inexpensive or piece jewelry. It could also be an ornament or object that has a purpose but isn't important, like a trinket. In certain cultures, a trinket can be used to show affection or friendship between family members.

In addition to armor, weapons and potions, players can upgrade their trinkets. They can be upgraded by visiting an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate amount in currency. Unlike other item upgrades trinkets, trinkets can be traded out at any time without losing their status.

The upgrade vendors can be found in major cities and the capital of each zone, and in some cases, dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets can be purchased using tokens, gold or fragments of a rare trinket.

Upgrades are a cost-effective alternative to purchasing a new trinket. One can upgrade their trinket for as little 12 tokens. The new trinket has the same level of base as the old trinket, but will also have an additional bonus of 1% upgrade.

When the old Trinkets are no longer usable they can be upgraded. This allows a player to increase their power and value over time. They can be traded among players and are a viable alternative to gold.

Players must upgrade their most valuable items first. This usually means the best-in-slot items for their class, followed by their secondaries and then other pieces of gear that they won't replace in the near future (for example an earring or cloak). When choosing which items to upgrade players should also be aware of the class's preferred stats. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats for tank players then they should consider upgrading their chest, helm, and shoulders.

Trinkets can be upgraded to a higher ilvl once they no longer have value, and the new trinket will have an additional 1% upgrade items bonus. However, a re-upgrade can ruin the previous trinket, unless it is salvaged with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an alternative salvage tool that is higher-end. This makes upgrading trinkets more expensive than other upgrades, however it is still less expensive than buying the new one.
