So You ve Purchased Item Upgrade ... Now What
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boost in specific stats. Each upgrade increases item level by 3. Each upgrade also increases an unspecified substat.
Upgraded gear generally sees more value in trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader mod upgrader enables players to upgrade their gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in every major city, and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended to visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.
Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item however they'll always be cheaper than buying new gear. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that are used to upgrade weapons, tools, armor, and other accessories. They can be purchased by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for various currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. button, which will display a preview of the item at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the item upgrading slot and current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item upgrader kit has been upgraded to a certain level and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currencies.
Upgraders for items can be found in a variety of locations, including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases depending on the amount of items being upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or complete quests.
Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only accessible via a variety of ways. This is both a positive and an issue.
In Season 3, the upgrade system has been tweaked a bit, with some new features added. After the player has upgraded to a certain level of item for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This applies regardless of whether the items come from another set of equipment.
The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
Players have a variety of choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special, and are used during specific item upgrading level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.
The first thing to note is that crests are only able to be spent on equipment that is of a particular rank, and each rank has its own requirements for upgrading. The simplest and easiest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, based on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons of all difficulty for items of higher tier or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons to obtain endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an item level upgrade upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.
The use of these currencies isn't too difficult however, the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. Once a piece of gear has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This change allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also essential to use crests with care, since they only have one use. It is best to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is particularly true for items like trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, that will be able to benefit from the account-wide discount if all of the slots are filled with top-quality equipment.
