So You ve Bought Item Upgrading ... Now What
Path of Exile Item Upgrading
The most effective way to upgrade your equipment in Path of Exile is through item upgrades. This lets you upgrade your gear without having depend on costly drops or trades. This article will show you how to upgrade your gear effectively.
Upgrading equipment grants a bonus to the item's base stats. This bonus scales with the upgrade component level and rarity.
Components
Upgrade components make your armour and weapons stronger. You can locate them through destroying enemies, buying them from karma sellers or finding them in the form of item-spheres. You can also salvage them from equipment that contains the components, or by utilizing high-end salvage kits like Black Lion Salvage Kit and Ascended Salvage Tool. Upgrade components are not destroyed when they are removed from an item.
Upgrade components are mostly used to upgrade an item, but they can also be used for other reasons. They can be used to increase the level or experience gained by upgrading existing equipment or weapons. They can also be forged to give additional bonuses. A crafted glyph can increase the chance of upgrading its target, while boost upgrades increase the attack or defense capabilities of weapons.
By selecting an upgrade template from the GUI will let you bind it to an item. This will display the upgrade components to which the item can be updated. You can also make use of the workbench to choose an upgrade template. In either scenario the item will be upgraded once enough upgrade components have been collected.
Each component has a different experience multiplier that affects how much more experience an item will gain when it is upgraded with that component. For instance, organic components give an experience multiplier that is higher than mechanical ones. It is therefore best to upgrade with organic components until you reach the multiplier of experience for the next rank of weapon or gear, then switch to mechanical upgrades.
In addition to the multiplier for experience Each item also comes with the maximum number of upgrades it can receive. The number of upgrades is determined by the rank that can be upgraded and the upgrade type of the upgradeable item. The highest upgrade possible is a weapon of 10th level. However, the most common upgrades for weapons are the tier 6 weapon and an armor upgrade of tier 5.
Sets
A set is a collection of items that all share the same bonus. Each item can be upgraded at minimum once. The upgrade will increase the amount of bonuses you can expect to receive. The first time you upgrade the set piece or weapon, it will receive an increase of +1 to its primary stat. Following upgrades, the primary stats will be increased even more (for instance the +1 bonus for 12+/13+/14+) and every time an item is upgraded, one of its additional stats increases randomly.
Upgrades can also boost the damage base of a weapon. This can be crucial for certain types of weapons. However, weapons are not upgraded to a higher maximum defense roll than their base. It is possible to increase value of certain set and unique items by upgrading them, however they're not always superior to a high-level Runeword.
If the item you're upgrading comes with a guaranteed bonus it is able to be rerolled a few times, and then its guarantee will reset to 0. Rerolling will cost the same amount of power dice as bringing an item, but the upgraded item will come with various bonuses. The NPC [ArmorBoboko Boboko can upgrade your armor in Central Flarine. To upgrade an item, you will need the appropriate amount Minerals and Erons as well as a power dice of each kind. These are available at the crafting table or in the Ultra Collector, and can be purchased using Gold. The NPCs will also offer special rewards for each completed level of the upgrade process. The reward can be rerolled one time, using the same materials as the original item.
Rerolling
If the player has enough rerolling tokens, they can play rerolling any item they have acquired during the game. If an item is rerolled, it will be replaced with a level 1 version in another set. Reroll tokens can be purchased at the store for a small amount of in-game currency. They cannot be refunded. The new item will come with the same bonus features like the first, however the statistics will also be different.
Players can change the identification of their equipment as well as rerolling it by interacting with an upgrader NPC. This will change the identification from a weapon to armor or vice versa, while keeping its basic stats and the attributes it requires. The change is permanent and will affect all characters who own the gear in question.
Players can also increase the item level of any equipped device by obtaining upgrade components and interacting with the NPC who upgrades the item. The cost of upgrading will depend on the upgrade track, the item type and the number of crests. Each step will give an additional 5% of damage to weapons.
Upgrading an item can boost its power however, it can also lower its quality. It is therefore important to balance the two. Certain items might not be worth upgrading at all however, others will need to be upgraded in order to maximize their potential. A player may want to upgrade their breakpoint armor using an interesting modification ( percent block chance or FHR) in order to explore what else it can become.
Rerolling is a standard practice in Genshin Impact and other gacha-based games. People use it in order to get a character or weapon they cannot otherwise get. Getting these items can be costly and time-consuming and the RNG gods do not always want to cooperate. The only other options are to invest money or grind extensively. For this reason, rerolling is a very popular choice in Genshin Impact.
Leveling
You can decide to upgrade the weapon or armor after upgrading an item. This feature is not available in the current version of the game. I believe that this feature was created to increase the value of expensive and rare items. However, since the majority of gear is replaced fairly quickly, and it can only be leveled up one level, you'll generally replace it before it is too old. It's not worth it to upgrade items with gem sockets because the power of the gem will far outweigh the increased ilvl that comes with the upgrade.
You will see a small window when you click the upgrade option on an item. It will display the item upgrades's template, the crest, and the cost of Valorstone to increase the item level. Armor and weapons will have different costs, with the latter generally being more expensive. The upgrade template lists the stats that will be added to the upgraded item upgrader kit and it also lists the current ilvl.
The cost of the Valorstone and the crest is calculated based on the current Ilvl of the item and the upgrade templates. The ilvl will also be reduced by the upgrade template's lvl reduction percentage. For example an upgrade of 8% will reduce the ilvl of a weapon by 8 to 88%.
The item will be upgraded to other stats, like critical strike damage, PvE damages, and block, parry, and dodge rating, in addition to the base level. These enhancements are also based on the upgrade template.
In the upgrade template you can check the amount of damage or defense the item will suffer when it is upgraded. This is displayed below the cost and the upgrade percentages. All weapons and armor, except practice equipment, gain these stats upon leveling up. The market determines the value of these stats. A weapon or armor that has perfect rolls can fetch an incredibly higher price than an unupp'd version. Similar is the case for other pieces of armor, like tiaras and circlets.
