Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades can also boost bonuses like crit chance and PvE Damage.

For instance, a weapon with the upgrade template that ends in % will gain an attack damage of 3% each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the level of the item rises.

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor and trinkets in order to provide them with a boost in stats or add a bonus effect. They can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors, trading with other players, or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be placed in equipment with a slot for them; the item must be at the very least upgraded to blue level for a component to be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied once. They cannot be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and Enrichments are a type of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascended equipment, as well as some non-ascended items. Leveling

The upgrade system for items allows players to boost the stats of specific items by inserting upgraded components. This is known as "upping". When a player upgrades an item, the base item is replaced with a different item of the same kind. This means that the same armor piece will become a weapon or shield when upgraded. Requirements
