Upgrading gear increases its stats base and often increases its other features. The value of these upgrade is determined by the gear's tiers, their requirements, and how many random augmentations are made available.
The racial Shield elite Razortail, for example, is usually upgraded to improve its lightning absorption function in PvP and/or add additional defenses to missile-based build in the PvM. This makes it more tradeable over the unupgraded version.
Reroll Tokens
Reroll tokens allow you to reroll a purchased item, such as armor, weapon, or ring. This replaces the item with another of the same kind however with different benefits. Reroll tokens are a cost-effective option to upgrade equipment. However, they do not retain the same level as the original item, and any wasted resources will not be refunded.
The surviving players can acquire tokens to reroll in many ways, including through the Mistery Box and rare drops from skulled creatures. They can also be found in crates and chests or bought from the market at a cost of 150k each. Reroll tokens are used to change the attribute of a piece equipment for example, increasing the damage it can cause.
Players can roll their equipment into three categories that include physical power, magical power, and health. Physical power upgrades boost the damage that melee and weapons, while spell power improves rings and mage attacks. Health upgrades give the player an extra health.

Leveling

The upgrade materials will be used up and the item will receive an upgrade to a higher level. This process can be repeated until the maximum level of an item is attained.
Items with upgraded stats will have a blue icon next to their slot. Upgrade components, unlike enchantments can't be added to more than one item at a time. Additionally each upgrade component will require a particular amount of items to be added, as well as an initial level for the equipment.

When you select an upgrade component to be inserted into an item, the game will display an in-game window that lists the required requirements. The game will show the required requirements when you select an upgrade component to slot into an item.
The game will put an item in your inventory when you have met the requirements for an upgrade. The progress bar will update to show you how close you are towards completing the upgrade. You can also check the status of an upgrade by going to any item upgrader mod upgrader NPC.
