Item upgrade, commonly called "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment provides an increase in the linearity of any stat.
Players can recycle up to six items at a time in order to gain an ability to gauge the level of each of the upgraded components. The cost of recycling a piece of equipment increases with their rarity and item level.
Upgrade components
An upgrade for an item in Guild Wars 2 is a process that can increase the power of your armor and weapons. This can be achieved through a number of means such as the use of upgrade components and also upgrading an item's mark levels or rarity. In addition there are many items that can be reforged to boost their stats even more.
You can purchase upgradeable items throughout the game. They are available in all over the world and are rewards for missions. Players can also craft them. The primary method to upgrade equipment is through the use of upgrade components which are the items that can be inserted into equipment. The majority of equipment comes with slots that can be upgraded, and many require a certain level of upgrade. Some upgrade components give specific bonuses while others provide general bonuses.
There are several types of upgrade components in the game, including universal upgrades, inscriptions, and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gemstones and enchantments, can be put in any kind of equipment and offer less bonuses than those that are type specific. Glyphs are only available on gathering tools. They offer a variety of bonuses, from increasing the speed of an item's gathering to providing additional crafting materials.
Select the item in your inventory, then open the Upgrade window. The preview will be displayed on the right-hand side of the screen. It will display the expected stats after the upgrade. If you don't have enough of either the two, the Upgrade button will say Blocked.
The upper-right corner displays the amount of upgrade components required to create a particular item. The cost of an upgrade increases as the level and rarity of the item increase. However, you can reduce the cost of upgrades by purchasing them from a merchant, or trading them with other players.
The majority of weapons can be upgraded by adding a prefix, like a rune or an insignia, and others can be enhanced by adding the suffix. These upgrades include an adjective in the item's name for example "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".
Glyphs
Glyphs are a way to communicate visual information. They are animated to grab the attention of the viewer and stimulate curiosity. The glyphs' animation mimics the body language and makes them more effective in communicating an inter-linguistic message. Glyphs also improve the retention of messages by creating a familiarity in the brain.
Each glyph increases a stat's value by a specific amount. This is clearly displayed on the item's page when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This is the maximum value that the glyph can enhance a stat by but not the amount it will actually increase it by. The value of the glyph depends on the tier as well as the quality of the item that you are admiring.
The majority of upgrade components that are added to items cannot be removed or replaced without removing them, with the exception of legendary upgrades and equipment. If, however, you have a rune or glyph that hasn't yet been incorporated into your equipment, you can transfer it to a different piece equipment by utilizing the Upgrade Glyphs context menu within the Glyphs panel. This will create a Glyph Set that includes the selected glyph.
You can take out any glyph with the help of the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item will be destroyed that it was installed in, but you can recover the upgraded item by using the glyph and its shards, so this should not be considered as a loss.
The addition of a glyph to an item could cause it to become unstable and the shards of the glyph will disappear from your inventory once you remove the item level upgrade. You can also add the glyph to your equipment to give it a bonus. For example the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and then deal it out slowly instead of all at one time. This is beneficial for players who are taking many hits from enemies but don't want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens permit players to alter the affixes they use on their equipment and weapons, and can be found in a variety of ways such as in mistery boxes, as rare drops from skulled creatures, or by killing bosses. Every reroll grants the player an unspecified affix, which is generally better than the one they had before. Reroll tokens can also be used to improve the weapon's stats to increase damage or bonuses.
Rerolled items are not listed on the menu for upgrade options, but they can still be upgraded. These rerolled items can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button which alters the layout of the item window and allows up to six items to recycle. Recycling an item adds a small amount of points to its level gauge. This amount is determined by the item's rarity as well as its level. Thus, items with higher levels are more valuable to recycle than items with lower levels.
Players can also make use of Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to reroll weapons to upgrade units. Rerolls roll the % chance of a particular weapon trait. If it is higher, the weapon is upgraded. If it is lower, it remains the same. Weapons can be repeatedly rolled up to three times.
Rerolling is a fantastic option to upgrade an item upgrader kit. However, players should be aware that the total ilvl is reduced by the number that it took to reroll it to the final ilvl. This reduction effect is most effective with Diadems and rings that don't have alternatives to raise their ilvls.
The Reroll system has been criticized by players for being expensive, and it would be more reasonable to let players pay for it in the form of money or food items that would allow them to change their build without wasting time and effort. The developers have no plans to offer paid rerolls in this point in the game's development. Instead, they're planning to add an option to change the race in the future.
Leveling
There are several ways to upgrade an item. The first is to increase the amount of upgrade which boosts the upgrade value of any stat. The second option is to increase the effect of the upgrade, which can increase damage or healing for a stat. Finally you have the option to upgrade the base item to a higher upgrade type. The upgraded item will keep its iLevel but be upgraded to reflect the effects of the upgraded item level upgrade.
It is important to keep in mind that upgrades are random. In most cases a better roll is based on the glyphs. However, there are times where a higher or more special roll could occur. The type of item will determine the iLevel. If you upgrade a unique or rare item to a special kind of item, it's likely to gaining a higher level.
Upgrades to items can be costly especially when you're upgrading a piece of equipment from the standard to legendary track. The cost will depend on the item's base iLevel and the amount of upgrade levels it has. Additionally, certain upgrade tracks require crests in order to reach the next upgrade level.
If you're fortunate, your upgraded item may reach the maximum level on its upgrade track and unlock an additional effect. This will provide the item with a significant upgrade value. The bonus effect is different with each upgrade level. In general, the effect of upgrading is increased by +3.
The iLevel can also change according to the upgrade path and its base level. For instance the weapon that has been upgraded from a rare or unique item to an exceptional item will have a chance to gain the enhanced defense of the new base item type.
