10 Reasons You ll Need To Know About Audi G28
How to Replace an audi Car key replacement cost G28 Engine Speed Sensor
In this video, Charles the humble mechanic demonstrates how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. This sensor is situated on the outside of the transmission, above the flywheel gear. It transmits a signal the ECU via an uncolored wire (T55/49) which is then sent to the tachometer in the instrument cluster.
1. Engine Speed Sensor
Located on the edge of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear, the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends signals to ECU pin T55/49 via an uncolored wire. The ECU uses this information to control the amount of fuel and boost. It also sends an indication to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster.
The sensor is used as a reference to correlate with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu must know when the crankshaft is TDC and the location of the camshaft so it can start spark and injectors in the right way.
If this sensor fails the ECU will throw the P00160 error, which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are not in sync, possibly indicating the chain stretching or a jump link on the upper chain of timing. However, the error code won't appear on its own, without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).
Testing can be a bit difficult as there are two different connector pins and they serve different purposes however the best way to test it is to measure resistance between the sensor and the ECU. If the sensor is operational, it should read about 1000 ohms. Examine for signs of coolant, or oil in the connector bay if there are issues with this part.
2. Injectors
Yesterday accelerating full speed from highway paytoll i had a big cut in power like the engine is running out of gas or the injectors aren't firing any more. This morning i pull out the spark plugs, 3 were soaked with gazoline and the fourth was dry. I put tissue over each injector hole and when I start the engine with no sparks, the three with gazoline jump out. The fourth one remains shut. I tested the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55/30/55/48/55/14/55/48/ I get 0ohm. I'm assuming the issue is elsewhere.
I also tried to reset the PID but without success. The car will start if the G28 is unplugged and it runs perfectly when it is plugged in, but still has intermittent misfire issues at higher RPM. The coolant temperature sensor (G62) shows the wrong temperature of -49c even when i unplug it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars but the actual pressure is 0.
I'm not sure what to do, as i think i've pretty much eliminated everything else. But i'm worried that I might have missed something. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know! TIA!
3. Fuel Pump
The fuel pump in the g28 is activated by a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is identical to the G4 sender, and both operate on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily find the audi spare keys in a salvage shop or a parts store. It is easy to test them - just switch your DMM into resistance mode and test the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump at the connector's end facing up). They must be infinite Ohms.
4. ECU
Our 20vt turbo (3B AAN, ABY and ADU) engines have an ECU that must be aware of the speed and position of the crankshaft in order to make decisions regarding timing of the fuel injectors, etc. In order to do this it makes use of a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If either of these sensors go badly, you will see codes on the diagnostic scanner which could cause engine shut down.
A failing G28 sensor can cause an inaccurate speed counter for the gearbox and a gearbox which shifts faster than normal, or a misfire while in gear. It is likely that the sensor is failing and requires to be replaced if you notice any of these symptoms. They're inexpensive and audi key replacement near me [Https://www.google.co.cr/] easy to locate especially if they're a Bosch unit like ours. Alternately, GM's version this part is an excellent choice.
5. Tachometer
A failing engine sensor could cause a myriad of issues within your vehicle. It is a crucial part of the audi key replacement near me's transmission because it communicates to the ECU about how fast or slow the car's crankshaft is turning. This sensor can cause the transmission to fail and other car components to be affected.
The G5 engine speed sensor is located on the outside of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear. It sends a signal to the ECU at pin T55/49 via a grey wire. The ECU uses this signal to regulate fuel and boost, and also to timigrate. It also sends it to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster. You can test for sensor failure by examining the continuity from the sensor to the tachometer. Also, you can verify continuity between pin T55/49 of the ECU and pin T6a/1 of the instrument cluster (trace [79trace [79]) and between pin T6a/1 and pin T26a/12. It should show approximately 1000 ohms of resistance between those two pins. This is the same across the audi key fob 80-100-200-RS2 model, ranging beginning with the 1985 MC and up to the 1997 UrS AN and 1995 RS2 Du You may also find them in wrecking yards.
