WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random extra substat is also added to each upgrade.

The upgraded gear typically has a more value in trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as important for the latter due to the need to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item, however they'll always be less expensive than purchasing new gear. For example upgrading a Benthic chest piece to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item upgrade from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players through NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for various currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be applied to any weapon or tool using the help of button, which will display an item upgrades's preview at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item and the current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than bracers or gloves, for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

Upgraders for items can be found at many locations including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon as well as the possibility of getting a new recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.

Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no item upgrader available at the start of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades must be acquired through a variety of means that are both an improvement but also a drawback.

In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. When a player has an upgrade to a particular level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading other items to that same item level will cost less even when they are part of a different gear set.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievement.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW players have a few choices. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

First, you should know that crests are only available for equipment that is that is of a particular rank. Each rank has an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and simplest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, contingent on the type or gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through working through content at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities, or by completing dungeons and raids in all difficulties to get lower-level gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item level upgrade in the proper steps and paths.

The use of these currencies isn't that difficult however, the system will introduce a few modifications to the upgrade process. Once a piece of gear attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This change is intended to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest level possible for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests with care, since they only have one use. For instance, it's best to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests with the Best item upgrader gear you have available, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan to make. This is especially true for items like rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, that will be able to benefit from the discount for all accounts when all slots are full of high-quality gear.
