Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as Crit chance and PvE Damage.

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item level increases.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into armor, weapons and trinkets in order to provide an additional stat boost or effect when they're used. They can be acquired through crafting, buying from vendors trading or looting. Certain upgrades also come with special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment that has a slot for them. The item must be at a minimum upgraded to blue level for a component to be used. Upgrade components, unlike other mods can only be applied once. They cannot be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and Enrichments are type of upgrade component used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and Ascended equipment, as well in some items that aren't ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging gear from the ascended, or by completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade can be prefixed or a suffix that alters the name of the equipment to which it is applied (for instance "Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, which lets players create stronger versions with the smallest amount of upgrade crystals than they require to reach the same level using normal methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defence characteristics of the weapon or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades can be purchased by purchasing them in the cash shop, or by collecting them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.

Each upgrade increases the likelihood that a better-quality version of an item will be dropped at the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to continue improving their equipment even if they're uncertain of the extent to which it will increase after a future reset.

Each Faction Crypt has the possibility of dropping one of the numerous Glyphs, and there are also a few rare glyphs that can be found in the form of drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs You will need to place them on your equipment.
