Upgrade costs differ based on the slot for the item and the current level of the item. For example, weapons will cost more than bracers, or gloves. For example, once an item is at the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters, rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

Another significant modification is that crests have one use, so it's important to use them wisely.
