Upgrades can boost the value of armors, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses, such as PvE damage and crit chance.

Components

It is commonplace to see in the endgame that placing Glyphs is a great way to upgrade your gear. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded straight to level 15, and they provide an enormous boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to climb higher nodes much faster.

Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced, however Glyphs are the one upgrade component that can be removed and replaced without restriction. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and rebuilt with a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

Each Glyph has a specific range of values that it can improve a statistic by. The value is displayed when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph that is the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.

Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of an Gem Store bundle or purchase them with certain tools that are unlimited in use, and during Faction Crypt Raids. Every Faction Crypt can drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have the desired Glyphs You will have to attach them to your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus that boosts the stats of a specific set of nodes that are within a radius of the Glyph. Glyphs increase the number of nodes connected to them, therefore it is recommended to place Glyphs in strategic places on the Graph. This will increase the impact. Leveling

The upgrade system of items allows players to boost the effectiveness of certain items by introducing upgraded components. This is often referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item is assigned a level that determines the final stats. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each item level requires a different amount of components to reach and the cost of upgrading increase as the item is leveled up.

Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab of a crafting table. Each Upgrade Recipe completed yields a certain number of Technology points. These points can be used to upgrade the item, and when enough points are earned, the upgrade item will be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When the player upgrades an item it is replaced by a new item of the same type. The same armor will be upgraded to the form of a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will also have its own set bonus. This could be a problem in that it could cause the item to become more expensive if you don't require it.

If an item is not able to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. In addition the item will lose any gained bonuses, including crit chance and attack damage, as well as all other effects that are associated with that effect (for example, increased heal over time or speed of reload). The player can continue to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.

When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that when a weapon is upgraded, if it gains a crit chance increase it will be applied before any attack damage increases.
