Upgrades can increase the power of a piece and at times even add additional features. The value of these upgrades is determined by the tiers of gear, their requirements and how many random augmentations are made available.

For instance, the top racial shield Razortail is often upgraded to enhance its lightning absorb capability in PvP, or to add additional defenses to missile-based designs in PvM. This makes it more tradable than the non-upgraded version.

Reroll Tokens

Reroll tokens allow you to reroll a purchased item, such as armor, weapon or rings. The item is replaced with another item of the same type and comes with different benefits. Reroll tokens can be a cost-effective method to upgrade equipment. However, they don't retain the quality of the original item and any resources wasted aren't refunded.

The survivors can acquire reroll tokens via a variety of methods, including from the Mistery Box or as rare drops from skulled creatures. They are also available in crates and chests, or purchase them from the stores for $150 each. Reroll tokens are used to alter the attribute of an item such as increasing the damage it can cause.

Players can reroll equipment in three categories: physical power, spell power, and health. Physical power upgrades increase the damage caused by weapons and melee attacks while spell power upgrades rings and mage attacks. Health upgrades give players an additional level of health.

There are three kinds of Reroll tokens: upgrade rare and legendary. Each upgrade elevates the item to higher quality. To produce them, you need a higher level token for rerolling. Upgrades require a regular item. Rare upgrades require an item that is either exclusive or legendary. Legendary upgrades require three legendary pieces.

The marker that rerolls, unlike special tokens or markers placed on action areas, remains on the space until the next success is rerolled. This is a way to ensure that upgrades are not wasted.

Blueprints are envelopes which appear at the beginning of each preparation phase. They are opened using Interact by grasping them. When they are opened, they show an image and description of the Appliance or Ingredient. Blueprints can be exchanged for a new Appliance or Ingredient in the restaurant's shop for a small amount of coins.

This means that blueprints can be moved between the Staple Pool (which is the default pool) and the Non-staple Pool during a run. This alters the blueprints the restaurant's shop has available for rerolls and those that are in the non-droppable Pool.

Growthstones

To upgrade equipment, players must first locate the appropriate item and then click on the "level up" button. This will display a menu showing the item's current level and what it will be when being upgraded, along with the required amount of Growth Stones to achieve this. The number of Growth Stones needed to upgrade the item is determined by its rarity. Rare (blue), rarer weapons will require more than one Growth Stone, while uncommon armor only requires one Growth Stone.

After deciding on what to upgrade, players need to select the number of green Growth Stones they wish to utilize and pay the appropriate cost. Once the player has met the requirements, he is able to select the upgrade option and apply the Growth Stones. This will raise the item's level by a specific percentage. The process of upgrading can last from a few seconds to several minutes, depending on the rarity of the item.

Some items are better off being upgraded not so much for their improved stats and more for the fact that it allows players to gain the maximum amount of value from a flawless roll on the item. A perfectly rolled 200/6500 armor set piece, for example, is highly valued by the melee PvP communities and could be worth up to 20-50 times that of the unupp'd version.

The game will highlight the requirements when you select the upgrade component to be incorporated into the item. These include the item type (either weapon or armor) the level of the item as well as the Upgrade Token required, as well as the amount of progress required to complete the upgrade.
