Boosters

The upgrade system in World of Warcraft allows players to increase the quality of their gear by paying currencies at an item upgrader NPC. This system first came into play in Mists of Pandaria, and continued in Warlords Of Draenor. It's a good way to increase the quality of your equipment, allowing you avoid the tedious grind of questing and avoiding a bunch of wipes in Mythic+ dungeons.
When an item is upgraded, the type of item it is upgraded to. Upgrades to a normal Best item upgrade item upgrader (discover this) create an Exceptional variant, while upgrades to an Exceptional version make an Elite. The item upgrader mod will keep all of its prior upgrade statistics, but will also gain an additional bonus from its new base type. This bonus is randomly selected. It could be a weapon that has more damage range, an improved speed of reloading, or enhanced max defense roll.
The amount of extras that you gain by upgrading is contingent on the number of upgrades done. Each upgrade will boost the extras by a maximum of 3 points. Each upgrade will also boost the stats in the main menu by +1.
Certain upgrades also give additional random boosts in addition to stat increases. These boosts can be quite useful and should be taken into consideration when deciding which items to upgrade. Certain of these boosts may only be used in certain builds (such a Whistan's Shield for FB Sorcs), while others are beneficial to collectors.
Certain items come with inherent boo that is less useful when upgraded, such as the Goldwrap which provides extra potion slots. These are usually upgraded to add value to a close-to-perfect or perfect item.
Costs
There are some costs that are associated with upgrades to items. The first cost is the upgrade itself. This cost depends on the item's new ilvl and the number of perks it will gain, and can be expensive. It is also costly to upgrade an item to a higher level (such as Explorer > Champion, or Veteran > Heroic).
The other is the cost of materials required to upgrade. These are typically Power Dices (dropped from monsters 21+), Minerals and Erons, or specific Mists Of Pandaria or Warlords of Draenor Quests. These materials can be found in the inventory of an upgrade item Vendor.
It takes time to upgrade an item. It can take up to 8 hours, depending on the size of an upgrade. The stats that are the base of the upgraded item are calculated based on the new ilvl as well as other properties. This calculation determines the new Armor Class bonus, damage dice, and other crucial statistics. In certain cases the upgrade can grant additional perks that can be selected from a list of benefits.
In rare instances the upgrade will only replace the most expensive perks. Sometimes, the upgrader will make other adjustments to an item, like changing the damage type of a weapon or or removing an unwieldy or operative property. The cost for these modifications is based on the new ilvl of the item upgrades, and it could require a special material like an adamantine alloy.
Success Rate
The basis for upgrading items is a chance, and like every random system, there's the possibility that the upgrade won't succeed. However there are a few factors which can improve the chance of success. This includes using an item called an Upgrade Pity or the addition of additional materials to the upgrade.
The Upgrade Pity can be bought through the NPC for smithing in Lost Ark. It increases the odds of an upgrade's success by an amount. It is similar to the luck bonus certain items offer, but is more stable. It can be added to any armor or weapon, and can be used up to three times.
It is also possible to add a number of additional materials to the upgrade, thereby increasing its chances of success. These are shown in a window that is above the + button. There are some limitations. The maximum amount of material you can upload is shown directly above the + button.
A Blacksmith Blessing or an upgraded version can be used to boost the likelihood of an upgrade succeeding. This item is useful when your piece of equipment or weapon is near or has reached the top level of its level. This item lets you upgrade the equipment to the next level without the risk of breaking.
If an upgrade fails it will be restored to its original state. This is usually a downgrade, but can also be an upgrade. It is recommended to save upgrades for when you're near the highest level of an item, and then use it as a last resort.
There are several items in the Kafra shop that can be used to increase the odds of a successful upgrade. You can boost your chances of success by upgrading equipment several times using HD Oridecon and HD Elunium. The rate of success will be increased if you can increase your chances of receiving a Double Mint by Shoe-Minting five times.
Failure Rate
The item upgrader allows players to add an additional slot in their equipment. These slots can be used to apply an enhancement or enchantment to an item. It is important to know that not all items can be upgraded. The enchantment and upgrade rate is dependent on the item's rank. The higher the item's rank, the more Zeny and items will be needed to upgrade it.
This system can be very expensive, particularly for top-of-the-line gear. Upgrades to weapons and armor can cost as much as 100,000 Z or 100 Carnium. The chance of success also decreases as you climb in rank. You can increase the likelihood of upgrading an item by using cash shop items.
Normal Upgrade is a fundamental upgrade that can only be used on armor, weapons and bikes. It uses different grades of cores based on the item type. Most commonly, lower grade items will require low grade cores and higher-end items will require higher priced ones.
To perform an ordinary upgrade you must first have the right number of cores. Click the button next to the item you'd like to upgrade once you've got the cores. The upgrade window will display an indicator of the percentage of your chances of success. This percentage is based upon the level of upgrade and the core nature of the item you've selected.
You can also choose an item that is protected by a safeguard your equipment in the event of failure. The cost of this protection may differ but will always be less expensive than the cost of purchasing a new item. The protection can only be used once for each upgrade and will last until it is used again.
