The 10 Scariest Things About Item Upgrading
Path of Exile item upgrading (source web page)
Item upgrading allows players to improve their weapons and gear by adding new affixes that boost its stats base or providing additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item upgrader in their inventory, and also access the kiln.
Items with weak bases, like rings, can be upgraded into a stronger base. Items with strong bases, such as eth Titans have little change in their stats.
Upgrade components
upgrade item components are items that can be incorporated into weapons, armor, trinkets and tools for gathering, offering an added bonus or impact when the equipment is being used. They can be purchased from vendors, gathered in loot, dropped by enemies, or obtained as a reward for missions or chests. Certain upgrades can also be equipped with special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade.
To upgrade a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player will have to select it and then click on the Upgrade button in the toolbar. The preview will appear on the right side of the screen that shows what the expected upgrade statistics will be as well as the necessary material or component needed to complete the upgrade.
There are three kinds of upgrade components: universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, such as gems, can be placed on any type of equipment. They offer a lower bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type restriction. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear and legendary equipment are exactly the same as jewels but have higher bonuses and are not able to be placed in any other kind of equipment. Suffix upgrades, which can be placed in gathering tools, add their name to the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for instance adding the word Glyph to an item that is a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would make it a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If an individual upgrades a gathering tool, and replaces the glyphs by a different one the old one will be returned to their inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, except for inscriptions which can be freely swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important variations from the previous versions. Gear is now classified into tracks, and each item is able to be upgraded so many times before it is "leveled out." The upgrade cost is increased with each level, but the required materials do not increase as much. This lets players focus their efforts on a few key items and maximize their impact instead of spreading the upgrade costs across several items.
If an item is finished being leveled and is leveled out, it will be eligible for a new set of upgrade components, as well as an increase in the likelihood that the upgrade item will succeed. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Power and it will reset to zero on failure or increases when the upgrade is successful.
Once a piece is upgraded to its maximum level, it can receive the affixes needed to enhance its abilities. The number of affixes that are available will depend on the item's base type. For instance, a rare or unique weapon that has a standard base will have only two affixes to choose from, whereas legendary armors can have up to eight affixes available for it.
Each upgrade step will require the use of a certain amount of Flightstones and crests depending on the item's current level and the item slot it's in. Weapons will typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item fails to attain its maximum level, the NPC will give the player the option of transfer it to a different character and re-infuse it with a different set of upgrades. This process can take between one and two hours, and costs the same amount of material. However, it has a lower chance of success.
Engineers will use a level in order to measure the height of the building against a known point, such as the benchmark. This is referred to as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are built to a high level of safety and accuracy.
Rerolling
Rerolling refers to the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is an important aspect of the game and can drastically improve an item level upgrade's strength and damage as well as other attributes. This can be done via the menu for items or by pressing the Reroll button of an upgraded item. Rerolling items can be costly and should be used sparingly.
The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, and use them to obtain tokens for rerolls. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or another similar item. Recyclable items come with an indicator that indicates the level of upgrade. The rarity and the cost of upgrading an item will determine the amount of level that has been filled.
In the past, some upgrade items had priority affixes that made them easier to roll for than others. This meant that you'd get the most crucial stats for your build more often than other items. This included stats like the armor's total armour, thorns, and control impaired duration reduced stats or the weapons' bonus attack speed and crit strike chance.
This changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes were removed and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling for each stat. This could be a positive or a negative thing dependent on your needs and wants from your equipment.
Each upgraded item may have a unique bonus that increases the item's power by a set percentage or flat value. These bonuses are added to the regular affixes. The more you upgrade an item, the better chances of obtaining an exclusive bonus.
The game also features various sets which grant a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are equipped on a unit. This is a good method to give a character a lot more power without spending a lot of money.
Many players choose to reroll their gear and weapons, especially in the beginning of the game. Rerolling is a way to get a more powerful character faster, which allows you to progress in the game and reach higher levels.
Sets
Sets are groups of elements that can be put together in a variety of ways. They can be of various sizes, have none at all, or contain a single element. They can be utilized to organize data or sort information. They can also be useful in analyzing patterns. Sets can be categorized in many ways, such as by size and shape.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom provides an array of set items that can be upgraded. Some items are worth upgrading while others aren't. Upgrades are worth it for armor sets with high defense and set bonuses. However, upgrades to weapons typically do not improve the stats of the item when as compared to their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade in the event that your collection of weapons and armor pieces is already extensive.
Set items can be upgraded to include special procs that are useful for specific builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are two examples of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement were increased as well).
Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them up to parity with their counterparts in their tiers. For instance, the Immortal King set has a wide range of levels, ranging between 29 and 76. Upgrades to lower-level items of the set can increase their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.
To see if an item is worth upgrading, players can click the Upgrade button in the screen for their character. The item's attributes will be displayed as well as any necessary items. To upgrade the No-mouth face, for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, along with 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also check the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
In general, weapons and armor are more valuable when they are fully updated. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons with spell/weapon-damage glyphs. This will bring about a significant improvement in their stats. It will also boost the defense of armor with an updated look.
