The item upgrade is a type of enchantment that increases the stats in certain weapons or armor. This includes secondary stats like Leech and Speed.

Universal upgrades can be applied to any kind of equipment and offer lower bonuses when compared to other components that are specific to the particular type of equipment.

Leveling

Upgrades allow players to upgrade items by increasing their levels. The item's "guaranteed bonuses" are also enhanced by the level increment. Every level increase increases the stats on the item by +3 and also adds an additional bonus based on the tier of the item upgrader. These bonuses range from +3 bonus, to a +1 bonus or an unspecified buff.

Rerolling is an excellent way to increase your strength in the early stages however it's not required. When you reach your goal of upgrading to level 6, it is usually better to reroll and find the most effective upgrades or save funds for the next set of items. This will ensure that you have a solid roster at the time you reach the level 9 upgrade goal.

The process of rerolling is similar to the level-up system. Reroll tokens can be used to take away any Level Up option and replace it with another. However unlike Level Up, reroll tokens don't reset the item's level. This means that when you reroll an upgraded item, it won't be at that level and won't have its additional bonus.

Players can also use an additional mechanic, Eliminate, which will remove any Level Up option they have on their weapons or equipment. This is beneficial when you've lost a gacha or you want to reroll an item that has five stars. You will need to create an account from scratch or sign up via social media.

Additionally, there's an Occultist in each town which can be visited to alter a weapon or armor's Aspects, stats, or attributes. This is useful if have a five-star epic unit that you would like to improve, or if you have an elite four-star character that you are struggling with.

Another way to reroll an item is to use the rerolling tokens that are earned by completing quests. They can be bought from the Occultist for 300 gold, or you can find them in the holozon boxes which are dropped after having completed certain dungeons. You can reroll any armor, weapon, or ring simply by moving the icon on the page of your unit and locking the lock to the desired slot.

Sets

A set is a set of items that have a certain amount of similarity. Sets are used every day. For example dozen eggs or a group of friends. They are useful because they allow you to organize things, and also operations like union, intersection and distinction help you to manage them effectively. Sets can be utilized in many different ways, from arranging music in a playlist to assigning students grades.

In Nioh the game, Sets are used to create special effects when players are wearing pieces from a particular armor set. These bonuses are referred to as Set Bonuses, and they can be superior to Effects. While it is not explained in the game's universe why the armor sets need to be worn together to produce these additional effects, they can provide a nice change of pace when playing the game. The armor sets that come with Set Bonuses can be found many locations in Hyrule including the Dark Moon Temple and Twilight Temple.

Each piece of equipment included in the Set includes a set of Set Bonuses that are associated with it. You can find out which ones are available by hovering over the item and examining the tooltip near the bottom. The Set Bonuses will be displayed in a red box.

Some of these bonuses are exclusive to certain equipment. For example, if you have the complete Phantom Armor set you will receive +8 defense (compared to the normal +3 defense offered by most equipment). Other sets are only available through specific quests or buying them through the Auction House.

It is also possible to get Set Bonuses on multiple pieces of equipment at the same time. If you own the entire Kestra's Descent Set and the corresponding pieces of Twinblade of Shadow, you will be able to get the + version of the set's bonus, if you be able to match them.

Unlike Effects that change each time you upgrade them, Set Bonuses are the same, even as the pieces of equipment they are connected to increase in. If an item is exemplarized to levels that are not enough the set bonus will stop working.

Set bonuses

Set bonuses are special effects that appear on an item set, and provide a bonus to the player in combat. They give a certain percentage of a specific statistic, like weapon damage or defenses or resistances. However, they do not stack; only one will be active at a time. The amount of an attribute is determined by the amount of pieces in the set. For example, you can have four weapons and three chests but only one of them will benefit you.

There are currently only a few gear sets come with set bonuses, and they are only available in the Test Realm, but expect the number to increase when the update is live.
